Aloha Friday

alohafriday

Aloha Friday is brought to you by An Island Life, head on over, sign mister linky and join in the fun!

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

My Question This Week:

Do you plant a vegetable garden or flower bed each summer? Or maybe you plant both!

I have ongoing flower beds, I buy almost all perennials so that I do not have to keep replanting. This year I did order a few annuals to add some fun color. As far as the vegetable garden, I tried one a couple years ago and failed miserably. I think I tried doing too much at once. So this year I’m going to start the vegetable garden again, and start small with just two different veggies.

We usually try to plant both, but this year, I think we’re sticking to veggies only. Flowers get so expensive!

My husband and son have been trying different things the last few years. We have been battling against animals that attack things. Last year our neighbor did something with her tomatoes that we may try. So far this year we planted daffodils the other day.

We always plant sunflowers. I love them! They are so cheerful. We are currently starting a garden to plant tomatoes and a few other things.

We live in an apartment, so I can’t really have a garden. It is my dream to have one someday. In the meantime, I grow herbs in pots on the balcony. I also have some impatiens in pots. My girls (ages 5 and 3) love “gardening” with me.

I would love to plant a vegetable and flower garden. We live in a condo on the 3rd floor of our building so I can’t do that right now. :(
We’re buying a house next…can’t say when…I’ll have a garden for sure and maybe even a couple chickens.

I’m not a gardener at all. I suck! But I try! I’m waiting for our last frost and then I’ll go buy some pre planted tomatoes, strawberries and other foods. I do plant flowers in my little bed by my house as well. :)

The only flowers that I plant are Petunias. I help out with our Tomato garden. I don’t have a Green thumb and I really don’t like digging in the dirt. I love flowers and fresh vegetables, though.

My parents live on a lot of land-we’ll build on it in about 3 years too and they have a few fields. We are actually planting today. Everything from Corn to green peppers!

I have a black thumb. It would be a disservice to the environment for me to plant flowers or plants of any kind, haha. I’m lucky my kids are still growing.
