Olivia turns 1….TODAY!

16 Comments 29 May 2009

It has indeed been a big week or two around here, if  you read this post or this post you’ll see where it all started. Now to top it off, my little girl is 1, my baby is slowly quickly growing out of her baby stage.

It was 1 year ago today, this morning in fact that I went in for my last prenatal appointment, my due date was 1 year ago tomorrow. That fateful morning my OB told me everything was the same from the prior week and she’ll be on vacation for the following next week so good luck! WHAT?! I said, can we plllleeeeasssseee go to the hospital and try to induce me with (the medicine that dissolves on your tongue-I’m drawing a blank). A. I didn’t want another doctor delivering my baby B. I didn’t want to wait one more week if it didn’t happen while she was on vacation. So, she said that sure we could see what happens.

It turned out, after they got me all settled in and hooked up that I was already having contractions on my own 3-5 minutes apart-so no meds. On it went, Rob got out of work to join me, my younger brother took Ryan for the day and let him eat ice cream in the car (I’ll never forget that). I won’t get into the gory details, but 10 hours later at 10 p.m. she came out screaming and weighed 8 lbs 9 oz. We did not find out what gender she was until she born, to me that part was very exciting. Olivia Reese was nameless for the first 5-10 hours after her birth, that first 5-10 hours are still somewhat of a blur and I cannot remember at what time we finalized the name. She has been a true blessing and could not fit in with our family more perfectly.

Happy 1 year Olivia!

Aloha Friday

15 Comments 29 May 2009

alohafriday

Aloha Friday is brought to you by An Island Life, head on over, sign mister linky and join in the fun!

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

My Question This Week:

Do you use both a cell phone and a land line or just one or the other?

About 1 year ago we decided to get rid of our land line. We were hardly using it since we’ve never had issues with cell phone reception and it was easier to call long distance with them. Now I’m  having second thoughts, I heard that 911 cannot trace as easily to our neck of the woods with a cell phone opposed to the land line. We don’t live that far out of town, but far enough apparently.

I Cannot Believe It

_mg_4733“It” being the fact that my children are growing up so very fast on me. It’s happening right before my eyes and I feel like it’s just flying by. Really, it feels like just yesterday that Ryan was born. Now, now he’s starting Kindergarten this September. Kindergarten? I have to keep reminding myself because I cannot believe it. Last week was one full of tears for me. We attended Kindergarten round up on a Wednesday and then he graduated Pre-School the following day.

Starting off parenthood as young and un-experienced for me made me nervous, I mean, how was I going to do it at just 20 years old?  Most people claimed that I was still a child, how was going to take care of one of my own? I have to say that Ryan has made it this far and has blossomed so well in a way that makes me so proud of him and also Rob and I as parents. We did it, all of us as a family, we really did and of course have an amazing future ahead of us I’m sure. This is still the beginning in so many ways as well.

Here’s to an exciting (and emotional) future!

While searching for swimsuits for our very fast approaching summer months I came across a fabulous store that not only sells very appealing swimwear whitney01_shbut other flattering clothing as well! Layers Clothing is a one stop shop for fashion and comfort.

Layers Clothing was so kind to send me the “Harper” shirt. To say that I was excited when I opened the package would be an understatement! I did not tell her what items I liked, only my size. This shirt is perfect. The material is extra soft_mg_4698 and the colors are very vibrant. The fabric clings just right to my skin without being too clingy but still showing that I do have a body underneath my clothing. It washes and dries very nicely and does not wrinkle easily at all. I received many compliments on this shirt when I wore it to my son’s Kindergarten round up. I wore it on a 90 degree day and it was still breathable enough to be comfortable.

Layers Clothing makes it easy to keep up to date on what they are doing. They have a blog where they offer a giveaway every Friday and certain specials like Free Shipping. You can also follow them on Twitter, Facebook and Myspace.
