There are times when I sit around thinking (this is when I actually get time to sit around and think, who knew right?), no really, it does happen sometimes. Ok, sometimes I wonder how dull life would be without my children. Rob and didn’t plan on having children as young as we did, but we did, and couldn’t be happier honest to goodness. Now we’ve asked each other the question several times, what would we do? Sure, we could travel, have more money, not have to pack a diaper bag, blah blah blah. Would it really be worth it though? I think some of the times I’ve laughed the hardest is at phrases, stories, etc. that have come out of Ryan’s mouth. Even though Miss Olivia can’t talk yet, she still keeps us laughing.

2 different conversations within 24 hours:
Last night before bed:
(A pre-requisite: Sometimes at night because Rob is hotter bodied than I am he will go sleep in Ryan’s bedroom where Ryan has his fan on full blast. I don’t like the fan on full blast. Ryan used to like waking up with daddy in his room.)
Ryan has just finished brushing his teeth.
Rob is changing Olivia’s diaper and getting her PJ’s on.
Ryan: “Hey mom, I don’t want Daddy to sleep in my bed tonight.”
Mommy: “hmmmm”
Ryan:”Well you know mom, I am 5 now.”
Mom: “You’re right Ryan, we can talk to Daddy. You see though Ryan, sometimes Daddy gets really hot at night and he likes to come sleep in your bedroom because it’s cooler. You know how you like your fan on high.”
Ryan: “Well, I guess I’ll have to turn my fan down.”
moment of silence
Ryan: “Or I suppose he could sleep on my floor. Besides I bet he’s back there turning my fan up already!”
Ryan: “You know mom, I am 5 now and I just don’t need Dad sleeping in my bedroom.”
At that point Rob walked into the bathroom and told Ryan he wouldn’t bother him. Even though he actually did go sleep in there again last night. That Daddy is going to get himself in trouble.

Today, making our own pizzas for dinner:
Ryan only wanted pepperoni, Olivia was having only cheese. I had everything for mine and Rob’s in individual dishes and Ryan was helping distribute the onion, olives, bacon, pepperoni and jalapenos.
After we’d gotten them mostly put together I notice out of the corner of my eye that he is eating the onion right out of the bowl. I’m shocked, but don’t say anything. This is the child that we practically have to straight jacket and shove food down his throat for him to try anything new. An onion? Is he really eating onion, all by itself and himself?? So I keep watching, out of the corner of my eye, sure enough. Finally I have to say something.
me: “Ryan, are you eating what is in that dish?”
Ryan: “Yes mom, I’m eating the onion out of this dish. I like onion now that I’m 5.”
The shock must be written all over my face.
Ryan: “I also like these now that I’m 5.” as he digs in to the olive dish
Apparently he didn’t really like the olives, or know what they were because that is when he walked away and I’m pretty sure he asked Rob for a napkin.
All in all this 5 business has been quite interesting, and fun. He seems to want to prove that he can do so much more now that he is 5. I’m so enjoying watching his little personality bloom and how he is still learning something new every day. He is absolutely hysterical and I love him with all of my little ol’ heart!

It is amazing watching them grow and bloom into little people. They soak in so much at this age. So adorable!
Oh and had to comment. Rob is definitely hot bodied! LOL
LOL I love it! He is so cute and he IS 5 mom! It’s like they are just so grown up all of a sudden!
