The Shred Sled

The Shred Sled

2 Comments 30 August 2009

I’m going to be upfront and tell you my story about the first time I encountered a Shred Sled. It was right before the Holidays and my husband found one in the toy aisle at a local department store. He hopped on it thinking, well, I’m not sure what he was thinking, but he fell and I looked at him and told him that my children would not be getting one of these in the near future. Which really, my children are only 5 and 1, so that makes perfect sense. Time went on and before I knew it was spring and then summer. I have seen kids everywhere on these, and they don’t fall, in fact they appear to be quite agile. Curiosity was getting the best of me.

The opportunity arose and the kind people behind The Shred Sled allowed me to try it out for myself with my husband and nephew. My husband HAD to try it, but really the intent here was for my 9 year old nephew. Upon opening it up I was impressed. It’s more sturdy than similar styles I’ve seen. I appreciate the fact that it has 4 wheels, instead of two as some other inline skateboards have. The decks are nice and wide with a rough like surface so you have more traction.

I cannot begin to tell you what this has done for my nephew’s balance. Just watching him from not being able to do at all and being able to hold himself steady within 24 hours was incredible. It required muscle usage in different areas than one is used to and overall he is carrying himself  in a much more balanced fashion now that he has been riding it for a while.

Now that I’ve gotten to know this board a little better and see it in action I can definitely say that I would purchase this for my own children, or husband for that matter. As long as it is used properly with good sneakers, and protective gear. The Shred Sled is a unique addition to the equipment we exercise with, and it is very apparent how much fun kids really have on them.

$25.00 Gift Card to the Cheescake Factory-Giveaway!

47 Comments 28 August 2009

mail.google.comI’m going to let you in on a little secret, I have never been to a Cheesecake Factory. This in fact saddens me, because I keep hearing just how delicious it really is and how I really need to try it out, at least once in my life, but probably more. Probably the biggest reason I’ve never gone? There isn’t one near me, at all, but that’s not unusual. I don’t even have a Target near me. Back to the subject though. I have good news for you, if you’re like me, or maybe if you’re not and you eat there once a week. No matter what situation you’re in, I have the chance for you to win a $25 Gift Card to try it out, or eat there again.

Here’s the deal. The Cheesecake Factory is sponsoring a promotion called “Reunion of a Lifetime”. The winner receives a trip including airfare, hotel and spending money to Las Vegas for 9 friends! All you have to do to enter for “The Reunion of a Lifetime” is become a fan on their facebook page and then enter through there. You can do so by entering here.

Now on to winning the $25.00 Gift Card to the Cheesecake Factory here. What I want you to do is tell me if you’ve been to the Cheesecake Factory before and what do you suppose you’d spend your Gift Card on…Dinner? Cheesecake? Lunch?…

Contest ends on September 15, I will post the winner in this same post and draw the winner via random.org.

The winner of the Cheesecake Factory $25.00 Gift Card is comment number 1! Congratulations, and thank you to everyone who entered!

I have never been to a Cheesecake Factory before either! My friends say it’s delish. If I won the gift card, I’d spend it on dessert for sure!

EcoGear EcoZoo Backpack

59 Comments 26 August 2009

School is starting next week for us with Ryan going into Kindergarten. The one and only item that Ryans’ new teacher required was a backpack that would fit his soon to be “Friday Folder”. I was relieved that I did not have to overboard with the supplies this year, but then I was on a mission to find a perfect backpack. One that fits Ryans’ personality and one that fits his Friday folder. Enter in EcoGear.

EcoGear was so kind to send us an EcoZoo backpack resembling an elephant. This backpack is just the right size. It is very suitable for Ryan as he loves animals. The material is durable and I love the drawstring, flap over closure. He’s already used it to take to his grammy’s house for overnight clothes and toys. We may need to move a size up come winter though, because of our harsh winters in Northern Michigan, the kids also need enough room in their bags for snowpants, shoes, hats and mittens. EcoGear has a great selection of sizes, so I know I’ll be able to find what I’m looking for when the time comes.

EcoGears’ mission is to save the world one bag at a time. The Ecoweave used to create the bags contains no harmful material or chemicals. Instead of the commonly used PVC, their bags include:

• Toxic-free

• PVC-free

• Chlorine-free

• No dioxin, phthalates or heavy metals

• Carries no ozone-depleting chemicals

• Clean to recycle—creates H2O and CO2 when burned

• Safe in manufacturing and consumer use

To Buy:

Visit EcoGear. You will find an assortment of colors, styles and sizes of bags for all ages. The prices are very reasonable starting at 17.99.

To Win:

One Through Hazel Eyes reader had the chance to win an EcoZoo backpack of their own, curtosey of EcoGear.  To Enter, tell me in the comments which bag is your favorite.
