This fall Macy’s has launched a new campaign, Come Together. This cause is meant to fund raise and gain awareness for those in need. In turn Come Together is aiming to feed 10 million people suffering from hunger. The public is invited to work with Macy’s on this by hosting a special dinner in your home and asking your guests to make a pledge. Macy’s will match each donation dollar to dollar until the goal of 10 million meals is met.
I personally have started planning a dinner in my home. I think it will be a nice way to get all of my friends together this fall and to help those who need it most.
Three Easy Ways to Get Involved:
- HOST- Friends and families across the country can host dinner parties from casual to formal, send invitations and manage party details including themes and recipes on www.macys.com/cometogether. In lieu of bringing traditional host gifts, guests are suggested to make a donation to Feeding America.
- GIVE – Donate $1 directly at any Macy’s register, one dollar provides dinner for seven.
- SHOP- Macy’s customers can shop for the cause and get special savings in-store on October 17, when Macy’s hosts a national Shop For A Cause day. A portion of the $5 in-store ticket sales will benefit Feeding America.
Additionally, Macy’s and M80 have made it possible to give one Through Hazel Eyes reader a chance to win a $20.00 Gift Card to Macy’s. To enter tell me in the comments when the last time was that you had your closest friends and/or family together for dinner.
Please, one entry per person. Giveaway ends October 6 when I will draw a winner via random.org. Winner will be announced in this post. Good luck!

In August when I threw a birthday party for my sister-in-law and practically the entire family showed up.
In the past year, I’ve lived in 3 states, so the last time I had friends over for dinner was the night before my husband I moved from MI to GA (about 2 months ago)! It was a great way to say goodbye to some good friends we’d made, despite our short time there.
It’s been a long time since I’ve had my family over. It was probably last Christmas time for our party! Thanks!
The last time was for my surprise birthday party in April! It was a huge surprise and success.
Hmm…the last time I had close friends over for dinner was around the holidays last year! Need to have another dinner party soon!
The last time was that I had your closest friends and/or family together for dinner was years ago before we moved to the States.

We had a big dinner with family and friends for my Mother’s b-day in April. We have big plans for Thanksgiving.
My who family (minus hubby who works) has dinner together almost every Saturday. It’s so nice to get everyone together once a week!
Usually we celebrate the holidays together, but other than that with Hubby’s family in Central America mostly and my mom the only living family member that I have (other than my kids of course~) our gatherings are usually small with the kids, my mom and our four cats… wish we had a bigger family but hubby’s lives too far away~

It’s been several years since we’ve had family together for a meal since they live out of state.
We had our family over for Thanksgiving 2 years ago.
Sunday after church we had my parents over along with our married daughter, her husband, our granddaughter, and the rest of our kids. My husband cooked, and made a pot roast!
Honestly, and this might be too personal, but its very rare that my family gets together unless its Thanksgiving! I am an only child so I have no siblings! I just have my mother, who is my everything! Any chance I get I spend with her! Her health has been horrible, open heart surgery in 06 at 44! She’s a wonderful lady who does a lot for me! Then my husbands family is his mother and two brothers than our kids! We try to get together when we can and eat dinner, but its not often!
My family is small but I cherish every moment!
Macys is doing a nice thing! I will be donating something!
Oh and we just bought pur own home, how nice to have a dinner/housewarming party for this
