Thank you Tanya and Merry Christmas to All!

2 Comments 24 December 2009

Here it is Christmas Eve already. Honestly I thought I was ahead of the game, but I’ve been here getting a ton of last minute necessities completed. I’m happy to say that as of last night all the shopping and wrapping are finished. Now all that’s left is the cooking and having fun.

I participated in a gift exchange within the Momdot community. It was a lot of fun and definitely something I would do again. It was so nice to get a surprise in the mail amongst the chaos that my household has been the last couple weeks! Tanya, from Mommy Goggles, drew my name. Tanya, thank you so much, I love them both to pieces. They are perfect for our household.

Gorgeous.

Happy Holidays to all. Please, be safe, have fun and enjoy your families.

Fun Christmas Craft for Kids

Ryan and I actually made these for the first time last year. I found the Jolly Elves in my Parents magazine, thought they were super cute and looked easy enough for my 4 year old (at the time) and I to accomplish. We were able to find all of the supplies we needed at our local JoAnn Fabrics and we still had a bunch of the stuff left over that we haven’t been able to use for anything else yet so when Ryan had a couple of his friends over last week I gave them the supplies and let them be creative and make them however they pleased. They all had a lot of fun. Ryan decided he LOVES making these little guys so him and I made a bunch more that we’re going to attach with the gift tags on the the gifts that we are giving this year.

Matchbox Mega Rig Pirate Ship

No Comments 15 December 2009

51JyDY1tGoL._AA280_I don’t know very many 5 year old boys that aren’t interested in at least one of the following: building (or breaking down and building over and over again), things that move (drive, fly, float), Pirates (guys, action figures in general), animals (sea creatures, wild animals), things that shoot (missiles, cannons), and just using their imagination. My 5 year old son is no exception and loves it all and you can find it all included in one set: The Matchbox Mega Rig Pirate Ship.

Provided by Mattel this is #1 on my son’s wish list this Holiday. Now I wanted this to be a surprise for him, and it will remain that way, but I had to open it up and check it out for myself before wrapping it up and placing it under the tree. It is solidly made and is sure to create hours of imaginative play for my little guy with the endless combination’s presented. The accessories include a giant squid with suction cup tentacles, a pirate chest, 2 pirates and more. The ship itself, which can be rebuilt over and over in any fashion he chooses can float in water or drive on land. You cannot go wrong with this for any little boy in your life recommended for ages 4-12 (and up) .

In addition you can purchase the Mega Rig Pirates Lair, or the Croc Escape among many others. Be sure to head to Mattel to seek out all there is to choose from and order in time to receive Free Ground Shipping!

The Matchbox Mega Rig Pirate Ship was provided to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions stated are my own and are not influenced by monetary compensation.

Buckle Toy-Bucky the Turtle

No Comments 15 December 2009

image002My daughter is 18 months old, and any of you who have spent any amount of time with a toddler around that age, give or take, know that they get bored quickly. There are  a few things as a mom I like to see in the toys that my children play with. First and foremost (besides being safe), I prefer a toy that does not require batteries. Usually if there are no batteries required it means this will be a toy that is not obnoxiously noisy or over stimulating. Other key points I look for: promotes eye hand coordination, uses their imagination, nice colors, easy to travel with, and reasonably priced are at the top of my list. Bucky the Turtle from Buckletoy.com falls into most of my categories, if not all.

image003

Bucky has a zipper back on his shell where a child can store another special toy. He has 4 different colors and shapes of buckles on his belly that your child will enjoy buckling and un-buckling over and over. Upon un-buckling your child will find the numbers 1-10 embroidered in different colors. There are also embroidered shapes in different colors on his shell to promote shape recognition. He is plush and soft and very very easy to take along for travel.

Here is a little excerpt from buckletoy.com about Jill Gomez, creator of the Buckle Toys:

“I made sure that each design has an educational purpose because a growing toddler is constantly learning. My son Gavin has enjoyed hours of play and learning time with his buckle toy and I know that each little one that plays with theirs will love it just as much. Thank you for visiting my site and I hope you check back soon!”

You can find the Buckle Toy Pillow and Bucky the Turtle along with additonal unique gifts at Buckletoy.com. Visit now to receive 20% off of Bucky the Turtle!
