Back 2 School with Bumkins! Review and a Giveaway

11 Comments 04 August 2009

B2S_200x200The air is getting cooler at night and the signs are hung throughout area stores. It’s that time, time to head back to school! This year is extra exciting because Ryan is going into Kindergarten, everything is new and fun for him.

I was able to review Bumkins Wet Bag Line for going back to school with. These have been awesome for keeping things organized, for Ryan and Olivia. I love the versatility and the fabulous colors. The wet bags I reviewed were the Waterproof Mini Bag, Waterproof Quickee Bag and the Waterproof Dirty Duds Bag.

The Waterproof Dirty Duds bag is perfect for wet swimsuits or dirty diapers. I’ve used it for both so far and love having the use of a smaller wet back when being out and about with a cloth diapered baby. It has a draw string with a toggle closure, is stain and odor resisitent (very true) and is machine washable.

_MG_6133I think the Waterproof Quickie bag is my favorite. I’ve used this for several things. I’ve packed a couple bananas and quick snacks in here, I’ve used it for baby wipes, to contain beverages that I’m carrying in the diaper bag. Ryan has used it to carry action figure to and from Grandmas house, he’s used it to carry his notebook and crayons and just to pack any miscellaneous items that he likes to take with him on his travels. You can also use this bag for soiled diapers and wet swimsuits. It is made with BPA free waterproof material and also  has the drawstring closure. I love that it has the mesh pocket on the outside of it to carry items as well.

The Waterproof Mini bag, not surprisingly, also has a variety of uses. More times than not when I have the kids in tow I use just the diaper bag, as opposed to using the diaper bag and my purse. I throw in my keys and wallet and off we go. It never fails though, I always lose my keys in the depths of the bag and it takes us an extra 5 minutes to leave. Instead I can put my keys in this bag to make finding them 100% easier. I’ve also done this with Olivia’s pacifiers. You could store an mp3 player in this, a cell phone, or even snacks!

Kushies ZOLO Play Garden

kushies

With Olivia’s Birthday in a few short days and her Birthday Party with friends and family behind us now we have been scouring for the perfect Birthday gift for a little girl turning 1. You see, she’s at that in between age. Not really into “baby” toys anymore, but not quite ready for the big kid toys. Kushies came to the rescue with the ZOLO Play Garden. I can not think of a better way to encourage her interest in planting flowers and enjoying the outdoors with an indoor toy!

_mg_4778

_mg_4777The ZOLO Play Garden came complete with flowers, plants, fun bugs and a watering can. All of which are squishy, fun and colorful all while being magnetic. The carrying case that the fun creatures and plants arrive in doubles as the garden which appears as the soil with grass surrounding it to plant your flowers, etc. Olivia was able to open this for her pre-Birthday party and has enjoyed every minute of playing with it. I can say that by far this toy is one that she has given the most attention to and she will actually sit for close to 30 minutes playing with. I can not say that of any other toy that we currently own. Even my 4 year old has a blast playing with this with his little sister.

_mg_4779Contains:

  • Flower garden that doubles as a reusable carrying case for easy storage and 11 magnetic garden accessories

Encourages:

  • dexterity
  • flexible thinking explorative play
  • independent play
  • real life learning

Cloth Couture Diapers

Cloth Couture Diapers

5 Comments 22 May 2009

_mg_4724Before Olivia was born I read loads and loads of information on cloth diapering, I was gung ho, but my husband….not so much. So I let it be, we had her and used disposables as we had with Ryan. When Olivia was about 4 months old I became intrigued all over again thinking about all of the money we could save. I talked my husband into it and made my first order of diapers and accessories, fitteds, prefolds, covers, the wet bag and more! What I didn’t realize after that first order is, just how many options I really had. I knew there were different styles, but each company makes them differently and I needed to find something that would be a perfect match for Olivia and I.

img_4723

That is where Cloth Couture Diapers comes in. I was cloth diaper surfing online and I simply could not resist the fabrics that were pictured on Cloth Couture Diapers. I was crossing my fingers that I would also love this diaper, and I do. I took a shot in the dark and emailed Allison, hoping to set up a review on here for you all of these fabulous diapers. Allison Vaughn, creator and owner of Cloth Couture Diapers, really does a fantastic job at what she does-creating fabulous cloth diapers. She also uses excellent customer service and I heard back from her almost immediately.

We received our fitted diaper beautifully wrapped, including a cloth wipe and a sample of lavender Crunchy Clean detergent. The package smelled fantastic before I even opened it! I am beyond pleased with my new fitted diaper. The fabric on the outside is vibrant in color, soft and flexible. The inner is super soft and absorbent. The prefold that comes included is a snap in which I prefer. The prefold is also the softest most absorbent prefold that I currently own. The fitteds use a snap closure with 4 different size adjustments. I prefer the snaps, especially when it comes to washing them. These are pretty much as trim as using a disposable diaper. We also tried a soaker and love the softness and flexibility just as much. I know I’m going to love these fitteds and soakers for the summer months as they are so much more breathable than previous covers I’ve used.

_mg_4729I am so much more excited about cloth diapering now than I was even 2 weeks ago, thank you to Allison. If you have any questions about cloth diapering Allison has Cloth 101 page where she explains how much money you could potentially save to the variety to how to care for your cloth diaper and more. Allison also has a blog where you can keep up with the latest items Cloth Couture Dipaers has to offer. You can also follow Allison on twitter to hear the latest http://twitter.com/ClothCoutureLLC.

To Buy:

Visit Cloth Couture Diapers and look around! You will find a fantastic selection that Allison re-stocks quite often. In fact a whole new stock went up this past week, I have my eye on a couple of the size large fitteds!
