I do not consider myself a pro in potty training by anybody’s standard. After all, my son potty trained in one weeks time when he was a little over 2 years old just by putting a pair of undies on him and using zero diapers or pull ups. I called it luck and figured my luck would run out the second time around. Now I’m not so sure. I will tell you what is working for me this time around. We do not put the pressure on, in fact Olivia is 19 months old and I had no plans of starting this journey until she was around 2. She had other plans though. For the last week or so she asks to go to the bathroom by saying “potty” or “poop” and will go. I believe I owe this success to cloth diapering. Not only are the cloth diapers better for the environment and help to shrink that footprint, but they allow the child to feel the difference between wet and dry. Up until this past week we were not using cloth diapers full time, but I may be changing that. So, there you have it, a friendly tip that just may help encourage potty training. If you would like to learn more about cloth diapering, feel free to email me. I have several helpful websites that I learned from and I’d be happy to share. Also you can enter cloth diapers or just cloth into my search field here and find more.
Today I learned of something so heartbreaking and tragic that there are simply not enough words to express how I feel. Karissa from Prissy Green has taken her life. She was a strong beautiful person and while there aren’t the words, I want to let it be known that she made a difference in so many lives and will be truly missed. I write this because I want anyone reading this to know just how real suicide is and that you can not always see the signs of someone that you are even closest to. Don’t hesitate to call somebody if you need an outlet.
Remembering Karissa, may you rest in peace. “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” -Abraham Lincoln
I’m pleased to announce the start of a new topic here at Through Hazel Eyes. We are going to talk about all things beauty. On Mondays from here on out you will be able to find an article on beauty. We will talk about skin, hair, fashion, healthy eating and well just about anything related to beauty. I will be hosting product reviews and giveaways to go with several of the topics. I will be interviewing specialists on topics that I myself do not specialize in, and maybe some that I do just to get another take. As some of you may or may not know I am a licensed cosmetologist, which includes the studies of Esthiology.
So here is the deal, while I do have the next couple of weeks lined up, I would also like to know What You Would Like to Know? Contact me or email tara@throughhazeleyesblog.com with any topic that you have been curious about, specific or in general, and I will answer your question, or I will find the right person to answer your question.
If you are a beauty related company and would like us all to to learn more about your product, please contact me to submit your company.
As you can see things are a little crazy around here. I’m currently under construction and hope to have it all ironed out by tonight. I’m trying to do this all on my own, which has been a difficult task, but one that I feel like I need to accomplish.
What to expect when I’m back full running:
