Birthday Bash Day 3: Monkey Bum Baby Designs CLOSED

43 Comments 03 May 2009

monky-bumI came across Monkey Bum Baby Designs on Etsy a couple months ago while on a quest to find functioning, fashionable and unique items for my little girl. I fell in love with all of her items and emailed her only to find out she was going to start selling tutus as well! So I of course ordered a tutu, headbands a pacifier/toy tie  and a belt for my little man. Kerri was so sweet to surprise me with hair clips for Olivia as well!

_mg_3744_mg_3747Now, even though Kerri is shipping from Canada and I live in the U.S. my items came in a very timely manner. When I opened the package I was so excited to see all of the bright colors and fun patterns! Kerri truly has an eye for design. It has been very clear that each item was made with a tremendous amount of care.

Kerri is more than happy to customize each order to fit your child. Olivia’s tutu came in perfect condition and fit her perfectly. Again with Ryan’s belt, and he is a tricky one, being almost 5, he’s quite lean. He wears most size 5 clothing, but I’m just not sure with a belt as he’s thin. I explained this to Kerri, and I probably would have made her life a little easier by measuring his waist, but honestly it doesn’t seem she needed me to il_430xn65555562because his belt fits him perfectly! I would also like to add that at his age he very particular about what he wears and this is the only belt I can get him to wear.

The headbands are all made so that the elastic is only in the nape area, therefore not restricting little heads. Especially when there is still a soft spot. I love them because for one, Olivia doesn’t have much hair yet to go into a clip. For two, Olivia doesn’t even notice they are there! il_430xn66623692They are so light weight and non-restricting that she can’t even tell! Normally anything I put on her head gets pulled right back off.

Kerri started her business about 6 months ago, hoping to earn a little extra money while staying home with her daughter. Her daughter, who just turned 1 not too long ago herself, inspires everything that Kerri makes. She wasn’t able to find much for her locally so she decided to start making the trendy items herself! Kerri’s eye for detail is very apparent in the fabrics she chooses and the items that she makes.

il_430xn66634996Kerri has many different items to offer, aside from what I have already mentioned. She carries hair bow and clip holders, crib blankets, burp cloths, beanie hats and nursing covers. She offers very affordable prices and shipping costs. She is also pleased to offer a wholesale discount.

To Buy:

Head to Monkey Bum Baby Designs and check out her selection! Prices start at 4.75 for a baby/toddler headband and range up to just $48 for a toddler bed blanket.

The Giveaway:

Kerri has generously offered one of my readers the chance to win either a boy themed gift or a girl themed gift.

If you are pleasing the special little lady in your life you will win your choice of color/pattern beanie hat and a set of clips! For the little boy your choice of color/pattern belt and pacifier/toy tie!

To Enter:

You must visit Monkey Bum Baby Designs and tell me what your favorite item is, pattern and all! In the comments come back here and let me know!

Birthday Bash Day 2: Dr. Hippo Series CLOSED

89 Comments 02 May 2009

hippo-logo2I’m very excited to share the Dr. Hippo series with you today, from the Hippocratic Press. Founded by Dr. Charlotte Cowan.

I am a believer that a child needs books in their lives. In our house that happens to be many many books, overflowing the bookshelves. Which is fine, we read at least 1 hr daily with the kids. Maybe it’s because both my husband and I are very avid readers and wish the same for our children?  I am the _mg_4387_edited-11aunt, friend or family member that will buy you a book for almost every occasion.

The entire family was delighted when the Dr. Hippo series arrived at our door. Ryan and I ripped open opened the box very carefully to find that they were very well protected in paper packing. The books are made with beautiful hard covers and a sleeve over the hard cover. There is a parent insert in each book including questions, answers and information pertaining to the particular illness covered in the story. Each parent insert is laminated and quite durable, as we found out. Olivia got a hold of one, dragged it down to her room, chewed on it, and it is still in perfect condition.

peeperRyan insisted that we read each book the very evening we received them, so we did, and LOVED them. The books, The Moose With Loose Poops, The Little Elephant with the Big Earache, Katie Caught a Cold, Peeper has a Fever and Sadies Sore throat all have fascinating, colorful illustrations. I love how they put each illness into terms that a child, even as young as Ryan at 4, can understand. They held Ryan’s complete interest and he had many questions to ask along the way, which were all answered within the story. We have since read these stories over and over, and will continue to do so.

sadieparentguideDr. Charlotte Cowan, the author and founder of The Hippocratric Press trained and practiced at Bostons Mass General Hospital for Children for many years. While in college at Princeton University, Dr. Charlotte Cowan majored in English and developed a love for creative writing. I find it so fascinating how she was able to combine her medical and English training to write childrens stories that pertain to illnesses that are quite common.

I have been fortunate in that I’ve been personally corresponding with Dr. Cowan. I was thrilled to find out that she shares a love for Birthday Parties as I do! Whenever a Birthday Party was held in her home she made sure that each person had a gift, not just the Birthday girl or boy! Charlotte is married to a wonderful man and together they have 3 children.

The Giveaway:

Carlotte has generously offered you, one of my readers, the chance to be gifted with the Dr. Hippo Series. Including all 5 books.

To Buy:

You can find the Dr. Hippos series at a book store near you or on Amazon.com, starting at about $13.00/book.

To Enter:

Please visit the website and tell me about something you learned there that I haven’t talked about. When you arrive at the Dr. Hippo website a window show up asking you to enter your email, you do not have to do this, but I highly suggest it, as if you do, you will receive The Top Ten Tips to Keep your Children Healthy all Year Long. You can also visit Dr. Hippos blog and tell me if there is something you have learned there. I personally went through a couple pages and learned a lot!

Birthday Bash Day 1: Pences Gifts CLOSED

63 Comments 01 May 2009

mailgooglecomEvery Birthday Party begins with  the invitations. You need to distribute the invitations to all of your close friends and family members so they know the when, what, where and who. Today I’d like to introduce you to Pences, they have the invitations covered or as they are called at Pences, Giftations. Which I might add is very fitting for these unique, yet functional invitations.

(From Pences)The word Pences comes from the archaic spelling of the French penser, meaning to think. Whether it be as important as your wedding invitation or as small as a greeting card, we believe it should flaunt your individual style and reflect all the thought that went behind it.

Not only does Pences have you covered from the beginning, the Giftation phase. They also sell Greeting Cards with many different occasions and fun, unique styles to choose from. Pences offers an assortment of gifts ranging in Stationary to Clothing for babies up to adults!

pences-g1A few of my favorite items are the Sushi Kitty Stationary set, the Maraca Giftation, and the Coffee Cup Onsie and Hat Set. Really though, while those are my favorites, I don’t think I found one item on their site that did not appeal to me. Each new page I clicked I thought of a friend or family member that that would be perfect for!

Pences offers excellent customer service. If you don’t see what you’re looking for or don’t know where to begin then all you need to do is contact them and they will be happy to help!

The Giveaway:

Pences has generously offered one of my readers their very own 10 piece set of Custom Giftations.

To Enter:

Visit Pences and tell me in the comments of another of their products that appeal to you.
