I do not consider myself a pro in potty training by anybody’s standard. After all, my son potty trained in one weeks time when he was a little over 2 years old just by putting a pair of undies on him and using zero diapers or pull ups. I called it luck and figured my luck would run out the second time around. Now I’m not so sure. I will tell you what is working for me this time around. We do not put the pressure on, in fact Olivia is 19 months old and I had no plans of starting this journey until she was around 2. She had other plans though. For the last week or so she asks to go to the bathroom by saying “potty” or “poop” and will go. I believe I owe this success to cloth diapering. Not only are the cloth diapers better for the environment and help to shrink that footprint, but they allow the child to feel the difference between wet and dry. Up until this past week we were not using cloth diapers full time, but I may be changing that. So, there you have it, a friendly tip that just may help encourage potty training. If you would like to learn more about cloth diapering, feel free to email me. I have several helpful websites that I learned from and I’d be happy to share. Also you can enter cloth diapers or just cloth into my search field here and find more.
